JCW w/o options or MCS w/options

Trying to decide between an 02-03 JCW without options such as cruise or a 04-05 MCS with more options. Is the JCW package worth it or would I be just as well off getting the newer MCS with options and adding some things to it? FWIW, I am a fan of cruise.

Opinions?

I'd say get the newer MCS, (more reliable, more options, likely less mileage, plus an 05 car has the newer headlamp design, and better transmission gearing). That would leave you with room to add power with aftermarket products later, should you happen to be a tinkerer under the bonnet (hood).

Does the 05 has limited slip diff? That's great if it does...

Good luck.

I'd second that.

I have a 2006 JCW, but if I had your choice, I'd go for the MCS. The warranty is gone on the 2002/03, so that's out the window. Warranty will also more than likely be up or almost up on the MCS as well.

Given that, you can get performance of the 2002 JCW at a much lower premium on the 2006, with a couple of relatively cheap, reliable mods, that aren't going to a void a warranty since its already expired. And as mentioned above, you have the benefits of the gearing change in the 2005, as well as the other improvements over the 2002/2003 with regard to bugs. Add that to a lower mileage car, I'd go with the MCS.

You might find with the MCS you don't need the extra power anyway.

Thanks for your help! I don't think I could do without cruise anyway!

I'd get the 04 or 05 especially if it's an 05. You can add the JCW later.
