Rear End Squeaks?

Anyone experiencing a nasty low pitched squeak from the rear suspension area? Specifically, it happens on large speedbumps.

I have one of the older 2-hole 22mm Mini Mania sway bars for about 6 months now, and suspect it. However, if I put the car up on stands, and then raise either of the rear wheels with a jack, it sounds and feels like the squeak is in the lower control arm? Weird...

Your sway bar may be rubbing up against the gummyweld under your car. Take a look, and if so, trim it. Here is pic of what it looks like.

Opened up the swaybar bushings this weekend and re-greased them. Problem solved. Thanks for all the suggestions, folks.

For historical/reference:

Squeak returned after 4 weeks and a good rain storm. Final solution is new poly swaybar bushings with zerk/grease fittings. Bought at Summit for $19.

Did you use litheum grease? That stuff lasts forever, almost.

Coat inside and out of bushing and on the inside of mounting bracket.

Ive yet to have any squeeks from bushings.....

I could be wrong, but isn't lithium grease a really light weight "white" grease, I see used on plastics?

I think I know what you mean, tho, Kenchan. You're talking about a clear grease that's the consistancy hot bubble gum--sticky stuff! I think its teflon?
Anyway, I did use that stuff when I did the install 6 months ago, coating every part of the bushing... and got it everywhere... in my hair... nose when I scratched... LOL! Stuff doesn't wash off your hands without serious pumas soap.
I believe it wasn't effective because my old version MiniMania bar didn't have any collars to prevent the bar from sliding back and forth through the bushings... as the bar slides through the bushings I believe the grease was simply stripped off the bar. Found a source for collars, in another thread, thanks to a fellow poster. In hindsight, it would probably be a few dollars cheaper to have simply gotten the collars first, then reapplied the sticky grease.
So, I'm now confident this annoyance is permanently fixed. Any further squeak will be quickly killed with a couple pumps from my grease gun.

I wanna thank everyone for chiming in with their 2 cents. I appreciate it!
