US JCW Suspension Kit Not Availble for pre '04

Get this.
The new JCW Suspension Kit is not availble for pre 07/04 cars.

Man!! I have been waiting for this for year. I have an '03 MCS JCW.
Now... I don't feel like BMW treats Mini Owners like the enhtusist they want us to be.

Here is their official word.

"The 2005 MINIs did go through some design changes. The new JCW Suspension Kit was designed to work with the new 2005 MINI bodystyle. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with earlier MINIs. I do apologize."

I bet it'll fit, but there'd be some innovative installation techniques required. JCW says that the suspension parts themselves wouldn't change, but you'd need to "create clearance" for installation on pre '05 rear subframes. I bet they're being restrictively over-cautious.

Not what I heard...

I got my word from Mini Customer Relations. Why wouldn't they tell me there is a fix. I going to assume you are right though.

I went to my dealer earlier in the week, and we made about 20 phone calls around the world and sent about 30 email. We sent one to the head guy that introduced the JCW kit at the show when it was realease and this was his response:

The 2005 MINIs have a slightly modified body. The recess in top of the rear support arm is approx. 5mm larger as it used to be on the 04 MINIs. To install the JCW Sport Suspension on 04MY MINIs the recess has to be enlarged to the same sizes as on a 05MY MINI. We are working on this and hopefully will have a solution soon. The parts will be the same as the ones you are currently use for the 05MY.

So, it sounds like you could get it to fit with slight modifications, but they are going to fix it anyway so that you don't have to.

Stunning and impressive research!
Thank You.
You and your dealer are to be commended.
Give us all pointers on how to get along with our dealers as well as you do.
That is even more impressive then your search results.
Thanks again.
