Suspension H&R Springs - can I do it?
H&R Springs - can I do it?
I am very interested in the H&R or H Sport springs. Thing is, I need to get advice from the NAM community as to whether they will work on my ride. Right now, I am running 215/45/17 Yokos on 17X7 rims with stock suspension on a 2003 MCS. When the car is under load (4 adults). I get a little rub when I fly over a dip in the road (our streets here in the Big Easy are awful). Am I putting myself in a world of hurt by lowering the car another 1.5 inches with the H&Rs? Do I need to wait till I wear out my 45's and buy a different set of tires next year?
What is your wheel offset, btw? You can probably dremel a little part of
the rear fender arch on the inside to remedy the rubbing. Alex and Minihuni
over at the tires, brakes, etc forum has some info on the dremeling.
If you plan on driving around with 4 adults often, you might want to
get a coilover kit (higher spring rate, higher damping capacity) as
you may be driving around on the bumpstops with full load.
I would definitely recommend the Hsports between the 2 choices
you listed.

i have found after installing a few sets of springs is that all cars sit different. h-sports are the ones i pick to be the best handeling spring, but only drop the car abut 7/8 of an inch max. and that is on a fully loaded, leather int, sunroof car. if you do not have some of the options it will not get that low. the other springs i believe are lower. i put a set of KW's and they are a full inch. in the end you might want to go to a different tire. the low look of sport springs is just the best. hope that helps.

1inch drop on all corners. Most lowering springs can not drop the car flat.
I had previous bad luck with H&R's on my other car. H-sports come complete
with illustration instructions and new bump stops.
