Bilstein HDs vs. Bilstein Sports

Assuming money were not a consideration, which of these would you choose and why?

I'm trying to decide which ones to get and am just trying to understand why a person would choose one over the other (so that I can decide which is the better option for me).

They will be used with NM springs and the other stuff listed in my signature.

Many thanks!

If you're planning on using them with lowering springs, get the sports. According to Bavauto and Turner Motorsports, the valving is the same on the sports and the hd's for the Mini. The sports are designed for use with lowering springs with shorter pistons so that you can retain more travel.
I'm just waiting for the usual spring/early-summer sale.

I didn't see any Bilsteins on the WMW site when I was looking, but how're the Koni FSD's with lowering springs ? I've heard it's easy to bottom them out and damage the valving. I've already mildly mushroomed my strut towers w/ the stock sport POS shocks, the roads around where I drive leave a bit to be desired.

Don't get FSD's, especially not with lowering springs.

Hey Way, I called your shop this morning to order the "Goodies Pending" part of my list and no one returned my call. Call me back so I can order my toys!

And thanks for the input everyone. Sports it is. Initially I thought Konis but after reading some more, I think the Bilsteins will be more what I'm after.

I'll buy that. I just bought a Quaife from that team, and was miffed when I didn't get an answer on my first call.

I got phone tag, because i did get a call back, and missed on my own 2nd try - again the message machine.

The punch line is simply this.

Tori (sp? Lord I hope my memory serves) reached me on the 2nd day, and forgave me two snippy messages, and filled my order.

The thing was, the bulk of the crew was at SEMA, and she was the rear guard.

And did one heck of a job, thanks.

Cheers,

Charlie
