Camber Plates for R56 with JCW suspension?

I just finished an awesome track day at Heartland Park with the Audi Club last weekend and my tires are toast. The were worn on the outside and not on the inside.

Pressures were good and temps were even in the middle and the outside so I'm left believing that I need some more camber and therefore camber plates.

Anyone have any suggestions for Camber Plates that work with the JCW Suspension?

Thanks!

Hey Mike, the IE Plates will work. Drop me a PM and we can talk about fixed or adjustables.

Not to let the cat out of the bag fully yet, but we're working on our own camber plates with a to-be-patented triple bearing design with caster adjustment built in for the R50/R53 and R56 platforms (and then for BMWs)... They'll be like nothing on the market - any market.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your camber currently at and what were your tire pressures on the fronts at?

If you haven't done so already you can get around -0.5 degree camber just by loosening the top strut bolts and pushing the struts in. It won't do much handling-wise but may be enough to offset that excess wear on the outsides. Rotating them frequently may help too since the rear wheels naturally have more camber, although this won't help much if you're experiencing massive wear over the course of a single track day.

I have the JCW suspension and have done both HPDE and AutoX days with the current set up and haven't seen the excess wear on the outside. I have about -0.4 camber in the fronts which was as much as I can get without plates. For AutoX my front tires, Yokahama Parada Spec V's seem to like 41 psi the best and on the track I was happy with around 43 psi.

I would love to have camber plates too but it would bump me up a class in AutoX so I've been resisting the temptation. Vorshlag also makes really good looking adjustable camber plates for the R56 too.

My camber is whatever the stock setup is. I believe -0.1.

I've done about 15 track days on these tires. A couple 3 day weekends, a few 2 day weekends and a few single days. Rotated the tires about every 6 sessions.

I start my pressures around 38 and adjust from there. Hot right off the track they end up around 45.

So, how many hours should a good shop take to install camber plates?

I always think to ask the obvious questions first, but you definitely know what you are doing and doing everything you can to get the most out of the tires. The camber plates are the next logical step. I'm not sure how much more life you'll get out of the tires as a result but it should be better and I'm sure you'll be very happy with the handling improvement on the track. I'd be very interested to hear your feedback if you go with the camber plates.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that.

Just got a quote for 4 hours including alignment at $65 an hour. I think I'll go with that.

I got the Vorshlag plates last week. They look great! They are getting installed today.

I'm thinking -2.5 in the front, -1.5 in the back. Neutral toe in front and stock toe in the back.

I'm discussing this in another thread if you'd like to give your input.
