Sry of posting in such an old thread, but I really wanna purchase one of these to eliminate some vibration and get the power down properly. My only concern is smoothness. When I'm driving to and from school or work or I have someone else in my car, I like to be nice and smooth. Does this part make it near impossible to do so? I don't wanna eat my clutch trying to please my passengers lol.
Thanks in advance.

I have not had any issues, I would definitely recommend doing it. Its a great cheap mod.

This might be a stupid question but I am about to purchase these from Way Motor Works and I want to be sure I have this straight. How many mounts do I need? Do I need to buy two mounts for $119.90 or just one for $59.95? The MINI Madness bushings say on their website that it comes in a pair. Do the NM's come in a pair too?

You might be confusing this with another part. The torque arm bushing is 1 part.

No, there are two inserts in a package. Drop the exhaust at the downpipe (I had to to get the bolt out), swing the arm down, and insert one piece on each side directly into the bushing that is already made into the arm, then push it back up, put the bolt in, and put it all back together.

Right. 1 part 2 pieces. There is only 1 torque arm on the car.

So the only torque arm is on the passengers side near the oil pan? There is not a second one located on the drivers side?

See pic #9 in the op post. It shows one lower torque arm and the two pieces, one on each side.

You only need one kit or two pieces as reported earlier.

Yes it comes as a pair enough for one MINI. I'll edit the description on the site to make it state that better.

Any real difference between the Madness mini bushings vs. the NM ones?

I've installed both brands and they are pretty much the same hardness so they work the same, but the NM is cheaper. But the biggest thing is the NM being black the dealer doesn't know they are even there so they never bother you about warranty.

NM's. Easy mod. BIG difference in torque steer on a 2010 MCS w/ some mods and Alta AP. Car used to move what seemed like two feet sideways in tight lane scenarios w/ heavy throttle if you weren't very attentive. Subjectively it feels like up to 80% of torque steer is cleaned up. My teenage son says maybe 50%. Regardless, big change; much less squirrelly. No perceptible increased engine vibration either (my only real worry), at least on a stick.

I was having a NM rear sway bar put on my 2011 JCW. The people doing it suggested that since the car was on the lift that I buy the NM torque arm bushing and they would install it for no extra charge. I was at about 4500 miles at the time. I had lots of wheel hop and a ton of torque steer. Now I have no wheel hop and barely noticable torque steer. I heard no noise and feel no steering wheel vibration from this install. Great product, you will thank yourself for doing it. I'm at 7000 miles now.

Where are you guys putting your jackstands? My car is lowered, so I cant fit my hydraulic jack under the stock jack point.. So, I start jacking it with the oem jack, then i put the hydraulic jack under the pinch joint (line that runs parallel down the length of the car on each side right next to the oem jack point), take off the oem jack and continue with the hydraulic (as oem wont get high enough to fit jack stand under) and get it up high enough to put the jack stand under the oem jack point. Its a big hassle, and you have to get it higher because the oem jack point extends lower than the rest of the car. If there was an easier way i'd be happy to know. Plus, the pinch joints are getting small dents in them from the car resting on jackstands... so I don't really like that at all.

What are you guys using for jack points?
Pictures/arrows if possible too? Thanks!

You can just put the jack stand under the front subframe.

In the future drive your car onto a 2x4 then jack the car up, that way you won't have to use the oem jack.

Claud,

Please post if it does/does not fit a 2011 MCS. Also, it would help a bunch if you note if the procedure changes for a 2011. Thanks in advance.

How much torque (no pun intended) do you tighten the bolts after replacing the inserts. Can someone verify that this would fit a 2011 MCS?

Armando.
