Suspension Camber plate questions? Ireland or Helix?
SuspensionSprings, struts, coilovers, sway-bars, camber plates, and all other modifications to suspension components for Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
So I am getting my Bilstein pss9's installed here soon and am looking into some camber plates. Now I do not track the car, it is a street car. Now that is not saying that I will never track it but I do not do so at the moment. Now my reasoning for getting camber plates is that I have been told that with my offset on my wheels (et37 17x7) that I am going to have some issues with rubbing. I have been told that camber adjustment will allow for me to get a little lower and try to control rubbing. Am I safe to assume this? Well I am about to order my stuff and cannot decide on what camber plates to get if I do need them. Helix or Ireland? Now the Ireland are about half the price. Do I have to trim strut towers for the Irelands? Also I have heard of camber plates making a deal of noise. What is this all about? How loud are they? Are either one of these going to make noise? Any info would help a lot. Thanks...
I have ASTs with the TSW plates......I just dont know if they fit the Bilstein pss9's. Call TSW they will tell you if they will work for you. They are one hell of a plate
I have Ireland fixed camber plates on my 2006 S. There is no noise and no rubbing. No trimming was required. Now the apex of nearly any corner is way more fun.
I have heard scattered reports of the Ireland plates rusting out. However that was almost 2 years ago based on thread dates so things may have changed. I can tell you that the Helix plates have the reputation as being some of the toughest camber plates you can get.
