06 suspension compatible on an 02?

Would shocks/struts and rear sway bar from an 06 fit and 02?

Thanks

06 suspension compatible on an 02?

I can't answer that.

I checked "Real OEM" and the part numbers for the struts are different. I used 1/2002 and 1/2006 build dates for example when checking for part numbers. I know the internals are slightly different, changed in late '04 I believe, but I'm not sure on the externals.

Perhaps some one with more knowledge can let you know for sure. I'm guessing they'll be compatible.

In keeping with compatibility and why I think they'll fit, in another post but I'm not sure where, it was said that the JCW R56 rear bar will fit the R53. Go here for info: http://minspeed.net/JCWRSB.htm

Hope this helps...

Yuppers. As long as the '02 has a build date of March 2002 or newer they are 100% compatible. The dampers on the '06 are noticeably softer than the '02's, however most '02 dampers are getting close to being blown out by now.

Since it came up (and the OP question got answered), this reminds me:

Typically how long do the OEM struts last? Obviously this depends on roads / track usage / driving style, but is there a general consensus yet? (My last car was a Miata and I remember it was generally accepted that after 50k you needed new shocks; just wondering if it was similar with MINIs)

also depends on what springs you're running with the stock shocks. With stock springs, i reckon you should get more than 50k miles, but then again, as you said, it depends on the usage....

So, this bar is from an R56 JCW? I have a factory R53 JCW and was looking at the H-Sport 19mm bar, but then I came accross the above which is 18.5mm and figured that's what is on my car. I haven't measure it yet though.

So my question would be did the R53 JCW's have the bigger bar or the standard 17mm bar?

Thanks
Mr. Jim

Mr Jim,

To answer your question, no. The R-53 JCW's have the 17mm rear bar.

The R-56 JCW bar is a nice touch for a factory JCW car especially if you want to keep it stock.

The decision between a 19mm adjustable bar and the JCW 18.5 bar is currently on my mind. I just have not decided which way to go.

Hope this helps...
