Suspension Gallery! Show me your lowered MINI!
Trust me, 99% of people with coilovers NEVER adjust their ride height once they're installed. Why? It's a huge chore. As mentioned, the threaded bodies get grit and corrosion on them, which makes moving the perches difficult, if not impossible. Even if they were pristine, it's quite time consuming. Jack up car, remove wheel, adjust coilover, repeat x 4, replace wheels, put car back on ground, evaluate height, repeat until done.
I'm not saying coilovers aren't worth it. I'm just saying, don't think you're going to adjust the ride height all the time. Nobody I know does that.

amen, it really is not that difficult.
if you're picky about the cars 'stance' coil-overs are the only way to go... especially if you change wheels & tires sizes over time, real easy to get the stance right again...

QUICK QUESTION for you guys...
If i pick up some H&R springs... will I need anything else??.. can it be properly aligned still?
Last car I lowered was my 90 Mustang and it got all out of whack and needed Caster/Camber plates to get back to spec
You guys will know best! These pics are incredible..huge difference. Hope to have mine up here soon!

Good question. When I lowered mine with springs only (no coilovers) an alignment was done immediately after. I also wonder if every time someone with coilovers changes the ride height is an alignment necessary.
I went for an alignment after a 7/8" drop and it still was in spec. So now when I do small adjustments under 7/8" I dont worry about it and I am not having any issues.
Just wondering.....to you guys with lowering springs, do you notice hitting the bump stops more often or at all? When I lowered my pickup seemed like any speedbump would have the rear banging on the bumpstops. I'd like to lower my Mini, but not at that price.
Peter at M7 tuning mentioned that all you need for realignment are rear camber links. I was planning on installing coilovers that easily adjust for winter(close to stock height) and for summer(almost slammed position).
Even if you are lowering quite a bit, you do not NEED adjustable camber plates and rear control arms to keep workable alignment specs. That said, it is very helpful to have the extra adjustability to allow you to tune the suspension to reflect what you want it to do.
IMO, if you want to lower your car then go straight to coils. The VMaxx are too inexpensive and quality to waste your time/money on lowering springs that will prematurely wear out your stock struts. Lowering springs and stock struts=the cost of VMaxx essentially.

I know this is an old post but this is one of my favorite cars on the forum so far. I'm thinking of buying an all PW '09 MCS right now and this makes my decision that much easier. I've got H&R on my 2003 540 M-tech right now and I've been happy with them. Sounds like I might just stick with the same company. Also looking at the Eibach Pro Street Kit (coilovers)... they are on the low end of coilover prices and I don't see much about them on here.
Regardless, well done.....nice and classy.
