SPAX coilovers? Good or bad? Drop?

I'm looking a Spax coilovers because they are so cheap $650 but I was wondering how they are for the street and freeway driving. I don't track my car so I really just need them for street. I would like some what of a smooth ride and I need the drop to be 1.5", is this possible and still have travel and not to bottom out?
M

Good to know, can I drop it 1.5" with out problems? I found out the $650 is for early 02's only. I can find that price for my 04 Mini.

True but I know that early 02 are different. Mini Mania has Spax for $$650 but only for pre march 02. i guess April 02 and and above are the same.

Mario: i have Spax coilovers on my 06. for me, the limiting factor on drop is the inside of the tire contacting the coil. i run -2.5* camber up front, your results may vary. i track my car quite a bit and don't chsnge settings. i'm sure that my daily ride would be better if i softened damper settings for the street. they have held up to 8 abusive track weekends in the past year. pretty good value as far as i'm concerned.

the difference between the early models and the others is where the up-link from the front sway bar attaches, in the later models, the attachment is on the strut itself. The ones Mini Mania has are for the really early edition MINIs...not the ones that have the uplink/endlink attachment on the strut body.
