Something leaking out of the rear wiper assembly?

I've noticed that something is leaking and drying up and its coming out of the base of the rear wiper assembly, anyone else notice this? Does anyone know what is causing it? Its not bothering me too bad...yet!

That's probably wiper fluid. I've read where others had to have the dealer fix it because it stains the paint or something.

I've got something like that too. Here is a link to a previous thread about gooey stuff coming out of the rear sprayer.

I also recall reading about a slightly different issue. I'll keep searching for that thread too.

Evidently there are two seperate issues. One is cosmoline in the fluid lines and the other is regular windshield fluid dribbling out of the rear squirter. Here is the thread that gives a check valve part number to fix the dribble.

Thank you all!

Sorry it took me so long to respond to the thread I started, but I've been out enjoying the hell out of this little car, I mean ICON I will call the dealership tomorrow and see what they say, hopefully they take my word for it, order the part and tell me when I can bring it in and wait on it.

My rear wiper, and my passenger side front washer nozzle both like to leak washer fluid. SO annoying on freshly waxed paint! It makes me want to drain the washer fluid out of the car and never use it again

My car gooed the first day I had it. After that, it's been fine.

My 06 had this issue for the first few months. In my case, I'm pretty sure it was the cosmoline still gunked in the rear washer because the goo wouldn't come off other than by using rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball. I posted some pictures and others discussed similar issues in this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=81388

The goo stopped after a few months. I didn't drain the fluid or anything (although I have replenished since due to using the washers), so I don't think that had anything to do with it. I also did not have the valve fix done. Every once in a while if the boot is slammed really hard a tiny bit of washer fluid might come out, but nothing like what it was doing in the beginning.

I have an appointment next Tuesday to have this looked at. I will mention the one way valve and I even wrote down the BMW part number just incase. The service advisor, Britney, told me that the car website isn't certified in Mini's and not to go by what they say, ummm, ok I'm not going to let this bother me because it doesn't sound like a big deal, but I don't want anything staining my cars finish, no matter how many coats I apply because that stuff just looks gross

I had a little yellow staining on the boot at first. I used up all the washer fluid on a trip to south Texas and had to refill at a convenience store. I refilled with distilled water. This flushed out the cosmoline. Have used regular washer fluid since then and haven't had any more problems. The dealer, however, told me that they would replace the valve if the problem continued to occur. Hope this helps.

It's Cosmoline leftover from the shipping process. This was a problem with the 05s and their redesigned rear wiper assemblies. VDC is supposed to get it out with power washes, but the stuff gets into little nooks and crannies and under the chrome trim. It then mixes with the wiper fluid and can be quite the gooey mess. A little Meguairs paint cleaner will take it away.
