dashboard steering column

Is it just my mini or does anyone else notice that the dashboard steering column area creaks ..? I can push on the steering wheel and the steering dashboard creaks up and down... Seems worse when I have had the heater running?

I took it into Network Q and told them about my concern. They said they had checked the steering column for tightness etc and came back with a green tick saying it was fine..

just seems a bit stupid that I can literally move the dashboard by putting pressure on the steering wheel. My Rover never did this.. Is it because they minis are very plastic'y?

Mine is solid and quiet (just tried what I believe you described).

So the column doesn't move, just caused the dash to creak?

Not sure what to tell you on your problem but you might try the first generation forum, since you have an R53.
