When should I get belted?

What's the general elasped time and or mileage for the supercharger belt to be replaced?

book says 60000 mls. but c'mon now... everyone here seems to favor 30000. dependent on your driving too . i went 60 plus but i drive mostly highway with very little boosting around town. it's cheap enough to do once a year really. get a tool (tensioner) look in the how-tos ; and do it .it's easy . and you may want to do a search for sizes and get a nice loud (mad max) gatorback.

Does this look like it is in need of repalcement? Inside of the belt looks perfect, am hoping to wait until I do a pulley for first belt swap but if I have to change it before then no biggie.

i'm no expert but if you've got no cracks and the second hole on the spring is still above the tensioner you're probably okay.

Thats what I thought, but I have been told making my belt last 44k that I was overdue; I wanted to hear someone elses opion. I'm still on stock pulleies so I think that has a good deal to do with it.

you can do it in about 30 min. with a 16mm socket a long pry bar and a small drift. you gotta pull the wheel if you got big hands though.

In any case get the add-on bar that keeps the pulley tensioner from crashing into your crank pulley in the event of a belt failure. Money well woth spending. Easy to install.

This is good stuff gang.

I'm all stock, meaning no pullies and such.

I've done belts on various vehicles so skill is not an issue. I do have large hands so I'll pull the wheel.

What is this thing to keep the tensioner from banging into the crank pulley? I'm not familiar with it? Got a link to a page that describes it?

Thanks.

go to gtt . gt tuning . they've a good one . get a 15% from webb motorsports while you're at it and a gatorback sold by autozone. the install of the webb will take you 4 hrs. with a good floor jack and webbs directions . they'll even send a puller for a dollar upon return. it'll hurt nothing on the car .
