Stock Problems/Issues Discussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.

perhaps an obvious/dumb question

Sometimes, shortly after I put the car in drive, I hear an electronic "ding" noise. I know this is supposed to signify something, but I can't figure out what -- nothing lights up in conjunction with this noise. So what is the car trying to tell me?

Your temp gage on your tachometer will be flashing "37" degrees. It's a frost warning telling you that it's cold outside.

What you are probably hearing is the little beep that lets you know it's cold out.....so be careful the roads may be icey. Mine beeps in at various temps from (31-37F).

Since the question at hand has already been answered....

I hear voices in my head saying, "drive really fast" , "let's see what this baby can do!" and "c'mon sissy, you can take that corner a little tighter !" whenever I put my car in gear.

His, Chile Red all over / Hers, EB UJ on top.

LMAO Pebble!!

And this "ding," that everyone's talking about... Have you ever heard this in your MINI, Mr. Rock? I haven't...

I have never heard this ding. However I am moving tomorrow from South Florida to the cold north. Hopefully it will be 6 months or so till I hear this ding.

(If you could not tell, today is my last day of work, and I have nothing to do except post on here!) Might be awhile until I get back on, as I need to feel out the new job to make sure I can keep waisting time during the day like I do now.

Mine says "Go Go Go Daddy, Go Go" . It's kind of Tantric. There's also kind of a growling when we turn. I REALLY like these dealer installed options. "I like it a lot"

could also be a low fuel warning, that makes the same tone as the 37 degree warning

Hey, it's 80 degrees in Boston. No "dings" here -- at least, not today!
