Yup, mine say Delphi too.

And McPherson isn't a brand, it's a descriptive term.

Oh, that's excellent. There is now NO reason that this repair should not be covered under my extended service plan. As it states the following...

Suspension: Steering angle sensor, front coil/leaf springs, MacPherson struts (includes upper mount and pivot bearing assembly),....

Struts leaking, or just planning for the future?

The upper strut mount is cracking and my extended warranty states "MacPherson" which I thought was a name brand, not a general description of all struts.

I'm just trying to get my facts/info straight and up to speed so when I take her in on Thursday I am able to fire back if they say they will not cover the repair.

Are you citing from a list of covered items? Or, exclusions? Also, sometimes you have to have a complete failure (like a leak in the strut) before the extended warranty company will cover the repair/replacement. The scenario from hell is that the extended warranty company denies coverage on the cracked upper strut mount until it is fully cracked (and then you have to experience the collateral damage of the mushrooming of the strut tower) and there is an exclusion for body sheet metal.... Don't laugh, insurance companies (and that is really all that the extended warranty company really is...) don't make money paying out on claims and they will easily make the distinction between about to break and not fully broken....

That quote above is from a list of covered items.

I hear what you are saying, it's a slim chance but it's right there in black and white so I will fight if they say no. The coverage I have and what I signed only states what is covered and what is not, nothing in there about something that is about to break vr fully broken. Also, it states that if something breaks and causes damage to something else as a result, that something else is also covered. For example; if the strut mount fully broke and damaged the sheet metal (mushroom) as a result, the sheet metal would be covered as well, again, it's as spelled out as plain as day in black and white.

As I see it, I've put 1k miles on the car and have only owned it for 2 months and their "certified inspections" to make sure everything is at factory specs failed as this was not caught. This is just more ammo for me to shoot if need be.

This is kinda weird!I got home last night to discover the right front shock is leaking from the top and ruuning fluid on the ground!I called the appointment lady, told her the story, she said the mechanics told her shocks don't leak at 24,000 miles, they will have to look at it first.I am going to call back and talk to the REAL service dept, and ask them if they are going to change both of them, and if they even have them in stock!Do you think they will give me some crap about having front and rear strut bars with a 22mm rear sway bar?

Anything is possible.

Don't be surprised if they decline to replace a part that hasn't failed (your other strut).

The Dealer replaced only the blown shock, which they say it's the first time they have ever seen that happen. And,they didn't comment on the rear strut bar,the 22mm rear sway bar,or even noticed the scratched paint where I removed the front strut bar!
