Tach signal tap point for RPM window switch

Anyone know the wire/location to tap for a clean tach squarewave signal that's at least 5V? I can't find anything that helps in the Bentley manual.

I have a pic of the DME connector with what pin is what, but its at home and i would have to post it later if nobody does by then.

You could prob tap into the crank sensor to get the signal but im sure its easer to jump it out of the DME box near the airbox

I tapped the neg on the coil, green and black wire, one of three that plug into the back of the coil. I am using the MSD Digital window switch. Make sure the switch is good for 4-cylinder engines with dual fire system.

Hope this helps,

Edmund

I'm installing the M7 Venom NO2 kit and I want to make the solenoid only active at a combination of WOT and RPM range of 3800-6600 RPM. The window switch will controll the ground on the solenoid and the WOT control from the Venom module will control the power (switched 12V).

Edmund,
I have the MSD Digital RPM switch Model 8969 which works with 4,6,8 cylinder set ups. So as I understand your post, the Grn/Blk wire off the plug on back of the dual coil pack is the signal you used?
Thanks for the reply

Yes, you understood correctly, the GRN/BLK. If you read the instructions for the switch it says that the white can go to the neg on the coil. Our coils have two negs, so I checked the wiring diagram in the Bentley and it seemd that the grn/blk would be the best one. So far ti works great!

I am using mine for a water spayer that came with my Alta divertor on the IC. I got a 3 gal. plasitc outboard fuel tank, which I keep in the boot full of water and ran a line up to the front. I then bought the RPM window switch and a generic windshield washer pump from JC Whitney. I put an arming switch down by the e-brake for the whole system. When armed it turns on the pump at 5500 and turns it off at 7100. I hope to get some measurements for how it effects the intake temp.

Hope thsi helps!!

Edmund

If your using a water sprayer on the IC i think its a waste to using a RPM switch. You wanna cool it down before hand and also thru the run of coarse. Turning it on at a later time is a waste IMO.
