Gas Pedal Stop Response In the middle of the Traffic

Hi all,

I have 05 MCS with 7,000 miles. As I was driving home today, my MCS jerk a bit and I lost all the power at the gas pedal in the middle of on going traffic. Luckly I was able to slide to the side of the road without getting hit . So when the car is stoped, the engine is still on and idling at 1ooo rpm, but a bit shaken, like it lost a spark-plug. I notice the EML and service engine light came on. I am planning to take the car to dealer for service first thing tomorrow because I dont want it to happen again. It could be a lot worse if it happen again. Anyone have similar experiences? and any suggestion of what happened?

PS. I was shifting from first to second gear, and my DSC is switched off.

thank you

I can only comment...

that the gas pedal itself has two independant magnetic 'hall sensors' to indicate what the pedal is doing. If the BC1 general computer reads differently from both sensors, then the car will not accelerate. Same type of logic on the brake pedal also, don't know how the clutch works, probably more mechanical.

Pedal was probably a means to an end in this situation and not related directly as direct linkage in an older car might.

Good luck, - help us all out by posting the mechanic solution when you get this figured out.

Happy Holidays

all right guys, i finally got my mini back on wednesday. Dealer found fault code P1688, and it is a faulty electronic throttle monitoring devise. they said it is a recall item, so they replaced the part, and hold on to my car for extra day to road test.
and so far so good, im able to motoring like the way it is suppose to be.....
so happy to have my mini back
ps. they also check the intake system for any leak, and pressure sensors for incorrecct value.. and they found nothing........just want to added for someone who understand all those means.....
