Coil pack question....

Hello, I was surfing around looking at Mini Pics and came across a Cooper S with a RED coil pack. (For the life of me I can't remember were I saw it.) Most aftermarket coil packs I've seen are black. Who makes the red coil pack? If you know who does, do you know the specs on them? any good?
Thanks...

I saw that too. I think someone had painted a stock coil pack. It looked good! I think they had red wires too, right?

It is a MSD coil pack. They don't make an application for the Mini so the person used one from a SRT4 (I think). That's what I was told.

I thought a dodge coil pack looked alot like a Mini coil pack. Can this be done? I havent read where people have been doing this. Would anybody like to respond to this? I would pm the guy, but dont remember where I saw the picture. I did find the MSD RED coil pack. The Coil pack looks alot like the Mini Coil pack. Link below:

I did this on my MCS. The MSD part number is 8239 which fits a Mitsubishi. You will have to drill out the 4 mounting screw holes as the mini screws are larger in diameter but this is easy to do. I don't remember the drill size (I did this 2 years ago) but all you need to do is measure the bolts and pick a drill size slightly larger.

I also used Magnacore wires to continue the red theme.

Is the voltage input/output the same? It would be curious to know if Mini is using anything "special" inside the pack.

Hmmmmm, I wonder how many people are using the MSD rather then a Screamin Deamon, Pilo Racing Coilpack ect. Is there much diffrence between all of them?

sanddan, What made you go with the MSD and not the others?

This was available through Webb Motorsport a couple years ago. It's MSD and it's not painted or redrilled to fit. I don't know if it's still available but give Randy a call...

I do recall something about Randy getting my first order wrong as it had the Chrysler connectors so I believe they're related

Its odd that nobody else talked about using a MSD coilpack. Maybe this TOP Secret stuff. If so, lets keep it on the down-low...
