My windows have a mind of their own
The windows on my 2006 MC seem to have a mind of their own.
Here's the problem: when returning to my parked/locked car I have found the windows rolled down 3/4" to 1" when I was expecting the windows to be completely rolled up.
The windows were both rolled up when I exited the vehicle and they appear to be rolled down on my return more than the ammount the windows dip to clear the door seals (roughly 1/4").
What isn't clear to me is if the windows roll down when I exit the vehicle or at some other point while I'm away. I'm trying to pay closer attention to the condition of the windows when I walk away from the car,
but so far I haven't "caught" it in the act of rolling the windows down.
My concern here is that one day they are going to roll down and let rain into the cabin. It also troubles me that so far this has happened about 4 times and while that's enough to be troubling, it's not enough to be easily replicated for the dealer.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there some kind of programming that I'm not aware of for heat venting on the 2006's that I'm not aware of that could be turned off?
Any help/experience with this would be appreciated.

The windows on my 04 used to roll down just a smidge on their own while i was driving down the road.
After a while, they started "twitching" after i was out of the car and the door was shut and locked. They'd move up and down completely on their own, just a little bit, then just stop down a little bit. I took it to the dealer and they replaced my window motor, and that was fine.
But then they didn't line the window up correctly or something, and i have a nice gap on the side of the window where wind and rain cuts in. Making another appointment today.

The problem could be that you end up pressing the unlock key for too long, or it gets pushed down and the windows come down, happened too me once. Just try and see if that may be the problem by keeping your keys with you in another pocket maybey.

I have the exact same problem you have. Since owning the 06 MCS for 3 months, I have came back to the car 4 times with the windows down at various degrees. I think it's a problem with the unlock button being hit as I walk away. I am extra careful on rainy days that I hold they key in my hand until I walk completely away from the car.
If this continues to happen often, I probably would tell the dealer to remove the automatic window down option while holding on to the unlock button.

I'm not convinced it's the key activated window rolldown by holding unlock. In my case when I have found the windows rolled down there has always been a 1" gap. I'm not saying it's not possible, but just that I would have thought that if that had been it then the gap would have varied a bit more.
I used to carry my keys on a belt clasp and shoved into my rear pocket.
Twice I have left the house, stepped into the garage and found the windows down, top all of the way down and "Sam" sitting there waiting with a grin ready to hit the road. And I know I left her with the top up and secured.
I don't carry the keys back there anymore, and now don't have a problem with "Sam" itching to motor topless.

DiD- not sure if this would help... but, is your car programmed to lower
the windows and open the sunroof with your key from the outside? If so,
it might have something to do with that program... in that case, maybe
you can get that feature cancelled and see if it helps.
i would rather have that function cancelled rather than not knowing
for sure if my windows are completely rolled up in a rain storm...

yeah, next time i'm in I may have them unprogram that just to see if that "fixes" this. I don't have a sunroof and I haven't found much need to roll down the windows to vent the car remotely with the key. I could still use the key in the door to do that if I really wanted to I suppose.
I understand that the "remote windows down" is not a default option anymore like the "no driving lights" or the "self locking doors at over ~10mph", etc. because of complaints like yours. You have to ASK to have it programmed, and they advise against it. It would torque me out of the frame to go out one morning and to find that "Sam" had been out in a thunder storm with her top down one night while I was in a hotel room...
I know that on mine I have to hit the unlock button 3 time and then they windows will roll down a little. If I hit it 3 times and hold it it will roll them down until I stop pressing it or they roll all the way down. Give it a try. Might just be that you are trying to unlock the doors and hit it one time too many.
