Is your car stalling upon starting?
shoeboy that problem I believe was fixed with a software update a log time ago from MINI. If your car hasn't gotten it then it could use it!
There were also mentioning of summer gas causing this problem.
Can anyone else shed light on this problem? Thankfully my car stopped doing this after a few thousand miles.

Thanks, I'll look into that. I bought my car used, so I cannot account for everything that has (or has not) been done. Unfortunately the nearest dealer is 2.5 hours away, so I'll have to wait until my next service to do anything about this.

Any other '06s have this problem?

My '03 MCS with 57K STILL needs to be cranked twice at times -- after many, many reflashes. I probably posted this earlier (say around page 5 or 6
) but the problem for me tends to be temperature related. It seems that some sort of voodoo takes hold on damp-ish mornings around 50 degrees or so. Aside from general neighborhood embarassment, it hasn't caused any problems with my car -- so I wouldn't worry. I think I've officially accepted it as a "characteristic".
Kinda funny that it's still an issue...

Stalling
This is still an issue with my "05". It started up again as soon as the Temp warmed up. Tarzan had his "05" in last Fall for some extensive service on this. The dealer said there was some fuel excess issue but I do not believe there was a fix.
05 cooper has this problem occasionally. i noticed it only will happen on a tank of gas below half way. i also noticed that it takes a few more cranks to start it below half a tank.
i always thought this was just a way for the car to warn you that you are going to be getting more gas soon. hondas always did this, everyone i have driven. i am sure its the fuel pump working harder with lower gas in the tank.

my car just started doing it but as defy said the couple times it did it it was near the quarter tank left mark. i just got off of an accord and never had this problem and its honda then again it was pretty new, personally as long as im not stranded and its not putting any major wear on the car i really dont care, ive learned just to give it a bit of gas at startup and it seems to make throughthe stall
cold start engine hesistation and rough idle
seem to have the same problem here '06 cooper s convertible picked it late dec '05 have about 5600 miles going to nearest dealership in Albq. this weeekend will post on what was done or not done.
I don't have to start mine twice, but it has been taking longer for the engine to "catch" for about a week now. I have an '03 MC BTW.
I was in for service tuesday and mentioned it to the service manager at my dealer. He nodded his head and said it was the summer gas formulation.
He also said that we're going to see a higher ethanol content in our gas and it could wreak havoc on the engine. He said that if too much moisture gets into the tank the ethanol can separate from the gas and congeal into a gloppy mess that will hose the engine.
Anyone else hear anything like this?

i have an idea
hey guys i have a question has any one tried just leting there car warm up a bit before geting going because my 02 mini s has never done it.
what i mean by warm up in cold weather is you should wait till the temp needle at least moves just a little bit, in warm weather take a minute and let the car run if it stumbles just ideling give a little gas see ifit clears its self up
i am just a shade tree mechanic and from what i am reading (not having experienced this) that is what i would do

I Just started having this problem on my 04 MCS about a week before the dragon. I made an appointment when I got home and the dealer tried a "brand new" software fix (version 44?. The very next day the problem was still there - stalling the first try after sitting a while, then starting on the second.
