Inexpensive OBD II scan software

Hi all, check out http://laplogger.com/

The have the interface, and software for Windows, Palm and Pocket PC all in the release. Total price is $60, plus about $5 for postage. It should be here in a few days, I'll post impressions when I've used it a bit.

My main goal is to look at fuel trims and O2 readings.... But it looks like I'll be able to log much more. I'm tired of waiting for BIM-COM, it sounds great, but so far it's just a tease waiting for a release..... But for $60, when BIM-COM does come (if ever), then it's not too much to have wasted for logging now.

It'll be coming shortly..

The cc payment was processed immidiatly, let's hope the shipping department is as fast. But I'm pretty cheap, so I didn't pay for next day shipping.

I was looking at the Nology GPS/Logger as well, but it's just so much money...... But the 3-D displays of tracks and the like looked cool....

Anyway, I'll have something posted a few days after it shows up.

I've been researching readers

Dr Obnxs, very interested, please post the details when you get it and try it out.
Here is what I started looking at today, haven't finished reading and exploring the entire site yet to see all it can do. Appears to be a mature product with some neat features.

Here's a quickie....

I got the product, and it's a mixed bag. The software included does work, but doesn't have a lot of variables to log. There is palm software, and it too works, but it has even less variables to log.

The key to the interface is the Elm 32X series OBD-II Interface IC . The cost of the interface from other companies is worth it alone.

Anyway, there are places to get free software that work with the Elm interface, like Scan Tool , and there's a link there to other software.

I found a palm SW for the elm chip, called OBD Guage. the source code is available there too for people who want to program thier own software.

I haven't put too much time into this, as I've been busy with other things. You also can get a snake of cables if you use a palm. When I have more free time, I'll spend more time at it.

To sum up, it's own software isn't too good, but if you're willing to hunt down some other software that does use the Elm chip, you can have a very workable solution for much less than the others.

Did you mean that buying the laplogger hardware interface is worth the cash? That elemelectronics.com link looks like it's just the chip, not the cable and connectors.

That is some fantastic information. I'm such a geek... I can see using one of these and a GPS to pull out some pretty cool information. :-)
