I'm at my wits end with my r58.. mf thing has had a rattle in the front right ever since I got the car. So I 1st replaced the suspension with coilovers and new endlinks ( 6x months maybe 4k miles ago) and since then I've replaced EVERYTHING else upfront BOTH sides. I mean control arms, both lower ball joints , inner/outer tierods, rear control arm bushings (polly),axles, hubs, engine and transmission mounts. I've ALSO 3x checked every single gd mf bolt , screw , exhaust clearance EVERYTHING and Nothing is loose, nothing rattles.
i even made sure my alta intercooler wasnt hitting the crashbar either but that's not where the noise is from anyway. It's specifically front right and only going over bigger harsh bumps will it do it..
I'm literally so pissed I'm about to just get rid of the car and wash my hands of this bs..
Wtf could it be ????
If you’re getting a clunk, it is usually related to suspension. Axels will typically start clicking in relation to speed or motion. You need to think it through as you drive the car, and see what vehicle operation reproduces the noise. Does it only happen when turning? Only happen when navigating an uneven hump? Only happen when hitting a pot hole? Etc, etc….

If the CV boot is ripped or torn, DEFINITELY replace the boot. As soon as the grease goes all out and water gets in there, the bearing joint will be done.
I’m not convinced it isn’t the coilovers. They don’t have to be blown to make noises. Big bumps would tell me the damper is stroking enough for something internal to move quickly.
I will say this, it’s darn near impossible to diagnose noises over the internet. Everything sounds fine over here….

I am thinking that too at this point...
I will try and get a video but it's hard to hear over road noise.
they are evilenergy coilovers and I think they're just rebranded basically maxispeedingrod coilovers. I personally wouldn't have bought them but I git them in on a trade and they were brand new then.
You didn't explicitly say, but I assume you got the sway bar bushings and end links too? You've checked the engine mounts?
I can't see how it can be anything with the coilovers if it was happening before you installed the coilovers, right?
You're sure it's coming from outside the car and not something in the interior? That's fooled me before. You can try buying/borrowing a set of chassis ears, those can be useful. There are ones on Amazon that aren't crazy expensive.

I DID find a finger tight top nut on the engine mount AND the strut mount bolt rusted and literally backed off 2x threads and I think that could have been enough for my coil to move in the knuckle, idk if fixing those 2x things made the noise go away but soon as i can test drive the car again I will..
I also did put in all new interior clips and even packed foam behind certain panels to stop ANY interior rattles ( im very **** about things ) and yes , new swaybar bushings and I even replaced the endlinks because I accidentally tore the boots on my old ones. But lol EVERYTHING upfront is new and everything in the rear is too with expectation of rear trailing arm mount bushings. New tires n rims too !
the oldest suspension/steering stuff on my car now minus those rear bushings are the coilovers amd theyre maybe 6x months old and under 5k miles..
it was 70'F 2x days ago and now its 30 amd were getting a blizzard UUUUGGGHHHHH. I wanna get this figured out.
i also had to put it on hold because my oil pressure light came on so i HAD to address that immediately.
here's my car and how it sits although I did drop the rear end and leveled out the car more.
It thought it was making the noise before the coilovers were changed, though?
You can try some chassis ears I guess.
I honestly don't remember if it was or not , I think it was and that's why I wanted to fix/upgrade them then..
after it gets back from alignment AGAIN tomorrow, I will check stuff again.
When they set my alignment ladt time they stripped the bolt on my tierod end the bokt that pinches the threaded end shut so i had to replace the tierod..
I get **** happens but if you make a mistake just say something. Noone can ever admit they're fked up and say sorry. Egos too big..
It WAS the coilover. I narrowed it down by swapping coilover from my r55. It turned out this stupid slide type nut thing wasn't seated all the way. So I had to disassemble the coilover and fix it.. baaaaaaaam !
it's fixed ! Absolutely noooooo noises now what so EVER !
alingnent is also dialed in too...
Scoooooooore !
