I need to loosen and possibly take off the banjo bolt that holds the coolant tube to the turbo (moving it out of the way in order to get access to the diverter valve on my N18).
In this case would I need to bleed the entire cooling system once I reattach it ?
When I removed my diverter valve, I only removed the bracket bolt that holds the water line to the compressor housing, above the intake tube connection. Just removing that bolt allowed for enough flexibility in the water line to get the diverter valve out. Then, just line up the bolt and bracket, and reinstall when done.
I just took mine out today chasing down an issue, I just loosened the coolant tank from its mounts and let it sit down in that hole loose. Gave enough play in the coolant hose to move up and down.
Well unfortunately, I have had to remove the banjo bolt to remove the hardline for coolant to the turbo in order get access to the bolts holding the DV in. Removing the bracket bolt didnt really do anything as far as being able to move it out of the way. It’s different on the N18 with the hardlines and hoses and there is just no room unless you have a 4-5” long and thin 5mm Allen wrench and some sort of ratchet attachment.

I have a set of Torx head screw drivers and I think it was a t25 that did it. They are your average length and fit right in there.
Well, I dunno what to tell you, but I was able to replace the diverter valve on my N18 2012 without removing any coolant lines. I think I just removed the big intake hoses and moved the coolant tank out of the way.
