Question about p0500 wheel speed sensor malfunc "A"
I am currently registering this code with NO dash light warning and no noticable performance issues that I can notice. I DO currently have a bad TACH due to my own stupidity (that we will not discuss now) nevertheless the needle was manually pushed out of claibration and is now frozen, I have an 06 cooper S with NAV so I have a DuAL TACH/SPEEDO ON THE COLUMN WITH NAV computer in the Center.
!) Is the "A" a wheel indicator , telling me which wheel speed sensor
Both front wheel sensors were recently jostled while replacing my strut mounts and installing tower defenders but I was very careful to not stress them or put tension on the cable.
Would checking Freeze frame data give me any more info. I have a NEW dual TACH/Speedometer on order due in about a week. Am I Correct in that there is no speed sensor on my Stepmatic Auto trans (not CVT) and this code is related to the sensors on the wheel hubs?
ANY advice is much appeciated as I am a relatively new mini owner and very quickly getting up to speed on all the specifics relaring to R53's. I have already addressed several of the known issues. But this code appeared after repacing my strut mounts. (i think) causing me to think i messed one on the sensors while doing the strut mounts, neither shows any outwarsd issues . I have a NEW sensor ready to go if i only knew which one it is......... I suppose I could just install it using the enny meeny miny moe method and check if the code stays cleared and swap the new one over to the other side if it doesnt clear.
But i thought some of you gearheads (of which i am one also) could give me some insights....thanks in advance
06 r53 dark silver hatch /kn drop in airfilter/ no other real engine Mods yet except alum rad expansion and silicon coolant hoses new plugs and wires
purchased with 80000 a month ago so i am still going thru everything

update, cleared code and it never came back.....huh? oh well ...lol go figure
