P0500 and P1613

Dear All,
I got into my car; a Mini 2002 model and the car couldn't start. My check engine light came on and the above codes came up when checked. Can anyone please help in showing me the location of the Speed sensor and my OBD 11 reader couldn't interpret the 1613. What does code refer and what's the remedy to whatever it portends. Looking forward to a very favorable response. Thanks ever so much.

Here's a BMW P code list: http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/bmw/index.php. Here's a thread for the P1613 code with a diagram: http://www.totalmini.com/forum/36-20...613-error.html.

Please what's the location of the speed sensor. Should one wants to check the plug or any other electrical related stuff or even replacing the sensor. A diagram would highly be appreciated. Thanks so much.

It appears the ABS sensor also acts as the speed pulse generator. Here's a diagram. The sensor is #2.

Here's a link to the part at Mini Mania: http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/NMS7620/InvDetail.cfm. Before you buy a new one, trace the wire out and make sure it's seated properly at the harness end. Sometimes reseating it helps make sure there is a good connection (i.e. possible corrosion). Also make sure the end at the wheel is clean and fairly free of debris (i.e. brake dust).

The only other two items that come to mind are the crank sensor and the cam sensor. These are usually associated with the spark advance timing.
