P0500 vehicle speed sensor code problem

Good morning everyone.

Recently, I have been treated to a bit of a challenge with my 06 R53 JCW manual Trans. The SES came on and I checked to see what the problem was with my diagnostic tool. I use an I scan 2 WT so I have very good access to all vehicle modules.

So I have no other codes anywhere in the vehicle, and my data stream shows all 4 wheel speed sensors reading correctly and accurate at all speeds. A detailed inspection of the wheel speed sensors didn't really show anything of consequence, but my front wheel bearings felt a bit noisy. I just sucked it up and replaced both front wheel speed sensors and wheel bearing hubs. To no avail, the SES remains with a lone P0500. Rear bearings appear to be tight and quiet.

The vehicle runs fine otherwise. No other warning lights activated, no performance issues and no other codes. I can't see where there is any transmission mounted VSS so I am at a bit of a loss as th what is going on here. This does not seem to be consistent with others who have this code pop up.

This vehicle sits for the winter and I did have to use my booster pack on her a couple weeks ago, but I have been driving it for those couple weeks with no lights or problems. I also recently mounted 4 new pilot sports (stock size), a new belt and tensioner and an oil change. She also got a new set of low pressure P/S hoses.

Any thoughts?

Yes, battery has been tested, known good, even tried it with a brand new battery I took out of my 06 R50. Same story.

So... clearing adaptations will resolve this issue?
