Intermitente wheel speed sensor failure.

These lights pop up sometimes after I drive down the block, and sometimes when I get ten miles from home.

They stay off of the car sits still and idles forever, and this started after it rained a week ago and it sounded like I ran over some kind of wire on the right side. I check the rear cable where the sound came from the most, but the cable looks fine. My break wear sensor is dangling a bit, but I tucked it up into a hole in the body of the car. This didn’t change a thing.

Im ready to upgrade my OBD reader. Is there one available that will give me live updates on sensors for around $100?

If something damaged your brake wear sensor wire, it's possible it damaged the wheel speed sensor wire as well. Clearly not enough to see but perhaps the wiring beneath the insulation is damaged causing intermittent signal loss.

I saw on my way to work that my front right wheel was loose from the lug nuts not being properly tightened. It came on again two times after that at speeds over 50 miles an hour, but not under that speed. However today on my drive home I was doing 70 for 20 miles without issue. I think that it was the loose wheel. That doesn't normally happen.

I have the same thing that just happened on my 2005 R53-MCS... the TPMS light and the other light came on and stayed there... following a traction control activation on ice/wet.

HMM...

Perfect timing for this post for me.

Also hoping for insight from veteran NAM'ers

I think it was a couple of loose lug nuts. I didn't see the problem for 24 hours, but it's back now, and as a side I think my throw out bearing is getting ready to kick rocks

I have seen the sensors crack on the head and go on/off. I have also seen on mine where the rust from the back of the bearing wears through the wheel speed sensor head.

Wondering why BOTH the traction control light AND the TPMS light would go off at exactly the same time?? (tires are up to pressure, confirmed)....

the wheel speed sensors are connected to the traction control and tire pressure sensor, so if one of the sensors go off the system fails as a whole because they rely on each other.
