Clutch Slave changed, clutch won’t disengage

I changed out my clutch slave cylinder. PITA to bleed. Finally got a power bleeder and it seemed to do the trick. I had some resistance in the pedal. I’m assuming I didn’t do it enough because the clutch won’t disengage when fully down on the clutch pedal. Can anyone give me some advice pleeeeeaaaase?

I wasn’t planning on driving this car regularly yet but I got into a really bad accident over the weekend and my challenger is totaled.

So I’m hoping someone has some advice. Do I need to bleed it some more??

thanks!

Get a friend to press the clutch pedal while you stick your head under the hood to watch the slave actuate. You should be able to see if it is operating properly.

That's where I'd start. I'd guess you probably still have air in the lines, clutches can be a ***** to bleed. Unless you have other clutch issues not mentioned in your post.

It moved but not nearly enough. Gonna give it another go In about an hour. Need to pick up more brake fluid and probably repeat the process several more times.

The car was having trouble going into gear. So I checked and noticed a ton of gunk all over the slave. The previous owner stated it was due for a change. No clutch slippage or anything make me believe it's anything other than the slave cylinder.

Just a pain in the behind.

Thanks for the reply.

Did you know you have to use a tool to compress the slave before fitting otherwise you will never bleed it? You can fab your own using two bolts and a plate.

Also make sure that you have mounted the new slave correctly on the gearbox housing.
When I did mine; I wasn't paying attention; and mounted it on the wrong side of the 2 mount points. It was an effort to squeeze it in there but I proudly did it, before realizing I couldn't get any movement in the pedal

We made out own which sufficed for that part of the install.

When placing it in it's spot, the bleeder needs to be open, correct?

Never again will I change that stupid delicate thing. Lol

Finally got it done. Gear shift super smooth now. Just don't feel enough pressure back and still have to press all the way to the floor for a clean shift.

Otherwise happy that I was able to get it done by myself when my certified mechanic buddies couldn't.

Sounds like there might still be some air in the system. Might want to bleed it more.

And for the record, when I did mine, I just used an ordinary bar clamp to compress it (and then kept one hand wrapped around the cylinder and the clamp until I had it in place). Seemed to work just fine.
