PCV Problem

Hey guys, have a problem with what I believe is the PCV system. The hose connecting to the back of the valve cover is collapsed and when I open the engine cap there is a clear vacuum. (The tube is no longer collapsed once the cap is opened)

I believe this means the PCV itself is broken and allowing air to freely pass through. I’m looking at a new valvecover I’m assuming?

I need to go for a pretty long drive next weekend (500 miles or so) and doubt I’ll get the valvecover here in time. Do I have any options other than wait?

ECS Tuning has N14 valve covers in stock. I would think they could get you one pretty quick....

Can anyone speak to the problem though? Is this a PVC issue or am I just losing it?

The N14 has a separate PCV value doesn't it? Why do you need a new valve cover for the PCV valve? Also, I think they make PCV repair kits now...at least for mine which is N18 (2011), they do.

What car and year do you have?

From everything I’ve seen the PCV is part of the valve cover on the N14

What is the N54 in the post of your subject? LIke I said, I have no idea what car or year you have. I think maybe you have to start with that. If you have a PCV on your cover, there is a round thing on the top of your cover. If you have a line coming out the back, the PCV could be on that line.

I 'believe' you can buy these now "without" buying the whole valve cover anymore. Here is an N14, $30...maybe not for the S though...hmm.

Yeah, all my searching says you can replace this in most of the mini's except the one you have.

You have to love these cars.

Yep. Looking at this thread...https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...pcv-valve.html
Maybe someone took the cover off, cleaned it, cut open the cover, put a new one in and glued it back. JB-Weld.
I would say you would have a 40% chance of that working. Not wise on a huge trip and in the middle of no where either.

Or, maybe just just cleaned it and got it working again.
