Oil Change Service Reminder Will Not Reset

As the title states, my oil change reminder will not reset. I have tried all the combinations of key positions and trip odometer button pushes. I never see the "Reset" screen only the "Test" screen. I can do all the tests, but not do a reset. I purchased a scan tool for MINI/BMW and it will read all the sensors, clear all the codes but it says it can't connect with the reset function. If there is a thread on the forum that addresses this issue, please point me to it. Other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If the oil service light has recently been reset, you need to travel at least 20% of the mileage (3100 miles) towards the next service interval before the system will allow another reset. Trying to reset before that will not work.

To RESET Oil/Inspection Service:

Press and hold the trip odometer button.

Insert car key and turn it to the first position.

You will see 51A come up in the trip odometer area.

Release, then press and hold again.

Watch for the word RST to appear on the Odometer indicator.

Release, then press and hold again.

Wait for the RST message to flash.

Release, and then press and release (once only).

The Service interval is now reset to 15,500 miles.

I think I've done it at least 15 times 4 different ways.
