Motor ticking

Ok, so there is a "knocking" coming from the belt side of the engine compartment. I wanted to start with the easiest fix so I changed the timing chain tensioner and it wasn't the problem. I did not do the last oil change so I do not know what was used. I will be doing the oil gasket soon so I will know if it valve knock when that is done.
I have heard videos of a bad timing chain and it doesn't sound like that but hard to hear on a video.
The last time that it was gassed up, regular was put it in, would that cause it?

Any other thoughts?

Get a mechanics stethoscope. They are cheap at harbor freight. You can pinpoint the noise that way. Or you can get a length of rubber hose and hold it to your ear and poke around with the other end. Just be careful around the spinning belt.
