2010 mini r56 N14, high pressure fuel pump
2010 mini r56 N14, high pressure fuel pump
Today I got a refurbished high pressure fuel pump on ebay and after the mechanic installed it, it didn't even work , like the fuel pressure is not constant and the engine was jerking. The mechanic says it's worse what was already existing on my car. I also noticed it first hand. These high pressure fuel pumps are failing every two and half years. Where can I find the oem parts with out spending more than $1100.
The mechanic ended up charging me twice for the labor, since he has to install a new one.

It's my understanding the HPFP can not be rebuilt. There are a few threads on here about it. Suggest checking the vendors here on NAM (ECS,WMW, etc). I believe the cost has recently come down a bit.
I got my HPFP part purchase reimbursed by mini. Mine is a 2012 but was mfg in 2011, falling under the extended warranty for the HPFP.

I'm considering filing a lawsuit against BMW MINI. So it cost me 1300$ to replace it and that's lot of money.
My car although produced in 2010 has same engine N14 & same high pressure fuel pump as the r56 S from 2007 - 2009.
When I talked to customer relation why engine and part being same as others and still not covered, they don't have an answer.
I talked to a lawyer, and he said since I bought it used he won't be able to help but other lawyers can take it up.
If you have a 2010 mini cooper and has HPFP failed and is not covered by mini, please contact me, I think if we get five - 10 people, it can be a pretty good case.
what was the mileage on your car when it was covered.

If you were not the original owner, would you technically be covered by the extended warranty on the part?
I'm surprised they covered it for you at 122k. I think for the cars beyond 2010, it only covers for 7 yrs and 70k miles.
But I'd encourage any one with 2010 with N14 having the hpfp, get together here.
Mini is cunningly turning away 2010 r56 s with these problems although there is no difference on either engine or part with year that are covered for 10 years to 120k (2007 - 2009)
yes, even if you are not the original , you'll be covered by extended warranty. However the lawyers are not taking these cases.

The warranty was extended to 120k miles, and mine was covered, as it was manufactured in 2011. I found the official Mini notice online somewhere, printed it out and brought it in with me when I submitted for reimbursement. I asked them about it before it hit 120k miles, but that dealership is so shitty with answering their phones or calling you back. I didn't want to wait so I replaced it myself.
I should have done it myself too.
But I didn't have time or a garage to house it with intakes removed just in case if parts are not correct.
So the mechanic ended up charging twice for labor , once for putting in the EBAY part and second time for mini oem ($1100).
so it was a screw up on my part , not thinking twice if I'd end up in this situation because the EBAY part was performing worse than my old existing HPFP.
I'm a 2010 owner taking them to small claims court over this HPFP BS- I'm filing this week. I will let you know how it goes. I am done with being a screwed over MINI owner! I've already had 2 engines for crying out loud!
Small claims
Last week I had small claims paper ready.i need to go to court clerk to get case# and then need to hire a process server to serve them case.

Heads Up! Only a week left to put in a claim for a defective high pressure fuel pump!
I received a notice in the mail for this settlement and it included very specific info (VIN) identifying my vehicle as one that qualifies for the reimbursement. The deadline for putting a claim in is a week from now, 11/26/19 so you only have a week to get your info together. I just filed mine online for a high pressure fuel pump, part# 13517588879, installed by my local third-party shop. My car is a 2010 Clubman S with 75K miles. I just needed to answer a few questions and send a scan of the repair shop bill and my registration. Good luck!

if all goes well, they will be rolling out the reimbursements starting in december. a specialty shop gave me a quote of $1800 and with the settlement only paying out $1300, i went with the dealer option for full reimbursement.
my symptoms were the half check engine light and the morning/cold start was a bit sluggish.
