High pressure fuel pump replacement
High pressure fuel pump replacement
Boring topic! I see a lot of posts of this on here and it is a bit difficult to sort. I see Pelican parts has a how-to and there are a few youtube videos showing how to replace the HPFP. However, these are for R56 models. Is it pretty much the same for an R55?
Thanks!

The stupid thing is that the HPFP was around $285 a couple of years ago. Now BMW raised the price to over $1,000. They must be trying to recoup some of their losses on how many they had to replace under the extended warranty on the pumps.
The Bentley Manual recommends to replace the high presure fuel line between HPFP and fuel rail.
BMW indeed raises its parts prices every year. Hence my tip for the PSA part: same part, different box and half the price ;-)

Replace in tank fuel filter when doing this. I feel this filter being clogged is a big contributor for these pump failures. I have replaced my HPFP 3 times in a 1yr span and on my last replacement I did the fuel filter in the tank. It looked like a used oil filter. Good luck.
