Are you that new X-man who possesses the special power of "luck"? If not, you may want to address this before your steering wheel locks and you can't unlock it.
If you read the link I sent, the light may be an indication that you have charging system or battery problems. If you keep driving without addressing the problem, this fault may catch up to you.

Taking it to the dealer? Not a really good plan for this particular DTC.
I drove mine for many months like this.
The issue is that the steering controller sees electrical glitches (battery disconnect, dead battery, etc.) as faults and once the fault limit has been reached it sets this DTC. This DTC CANNOT be reset by clearing ECU DTCs. You need NCS Expert tools to reset the code in the steering controller module.
If the dealer will do that, great, your problem is solved. However, if you search you'll find many stories where dealers don't know how to do that, all they know how to do is replace parts at a cost of $1K plus.
I used the NCS Expert tools (these are software tools) to reset mine, it took a few hours to get the tools configured and so forth and about 20 minutes to clear the code.

Great information! So the module is the steering controller module. What code do you have to reset? I've used NCS Expert on my BMW, but not on my MINI. This is beyond what most owners are willing (or should) to take on.
Any good links out there for the required cable & software for getting set up to code MINIs?
