Oil usage

How many miles?
You could be losing oil through the PCV system and it's getting burned up in the engine. That will clog up the engine with carbon crud and also destroy your catalytic converter.
Has the valve cover ever been replaced? The pcv system is integrated into the valve cover, the only way to fix it is to replace the whole cover. There is an updated version out that does a significantly improved version of separating oil out of the crank case vapor. Suggest you check for a lot of oil in the pcv vent lines coming out of the valve cover - one that goes to the turbo inlet at the front driver's side, and one coming out the back passenger side that goes to the throttle body. Also check if there is a lot of oil built up in the throttle body. Replacing the valve cover is an easy DIY.
