High Oil Usage - What is this

I have been experience high usage of oil for a wile now and now smell oil in the cabin. I took the intake tubing and found a lot of oil in the intake tube coming from the inter-cooler going down to the throttle body. I notice the the pressure release dumps right into the cabin air intake. (not the smartest design) So i found that the oil gets pushed through the pressure release valve there for the smell in the cabin. The oil is being sucked into the intake tube right before the turbo. Attached is a diagram of the intake pre turbo #18 is some valve not sure what it does....that is allowing oil to flow through the system.

Does anyone know what the heck this does? should it be replaced?

Thanks

It sounds like you're talking about the breather tube that connects to part #10 (turbo compressor inlet tube). This is one of two crankcase ventilation tubes on the N14 turbocharged engine. It's normal to see oil condensation in the turbo compressor inlet tube because of the breather line feeding to it. You can read all about it here...

These systems are required by the EPA to comply with emissions regulations.

number 18 is not a valve it is a heater. that hose connects to the right side valve cover where a PCV is. most people put an oil catch can inline to prevent what you are talking about.
