Wind Back tool stuck on brakes... No bueno.

Aloha,

2002 R50 -- lurk a lot, post a little.

I'm attempting to change the brakes/rotors on my daughter's car this afternoon. I've done a lot of brakes over the years, but this is honestly the first time I've ever had to deal with piston winding. I've watched a lot and read a lot, and it seemed pretty straight forward. Of course, it didn't turn out like that. The winder is currently stuck in the caliper and I can't get it to compress the piston, nor wind it out far enough to even remove the tool from the caliper. The car is sitting on jack stands and halfway out of the garage. I'm pretty much stuck and out of ideas.

Any ideas? I'm about to swallow my pride and call someone here, because I can't secure the house with the car where it's at.

Thanks in advance.

*EDIT* I'm not really sure where it goes here, so I posted in the 1st Gen forum. Please move if in the wrong forum.

Bleeding fluid out of the system should relieve the pressure on the piston. I think that would work assuming it isn't rusted or somehow mechanically frozen.

Never done these kinds of brakes myself but seems like it a plan?

I have the cap off the reservoir. Shouldn't that allow the fluid to be pushed back through the lines? My next thought was to take off the brake line and open the bleeder. I am not entirely confident in those abilities, but we'll see what happens. Thanks.

Thanks for the move -- sorry for the wrong placement, originally.

Yes, rear calipers. FINALLY got it removed last night after a good mental break and lots of swearing.

Sorry, was in a rush getting ready for work this morning and guess I never actually said what happened. Pretty much a combination of copious amounts of PB Blaster, swearing, and violence. And a SFH. -- didn't want to chance breaking anything and causing even more problems trying to solve the one I was already in. Honestly, as with most dilemmas, I just had to step away from it for a while and then come back to it with either further information, or just a fresh eye and mind to try and work it out. And, as ALSO with most automotive dilemmas, it took a lot of beating and banging...

The back caliper screws in but you cannot put allot of pressure on it while turning.

This happened to me several times. On at least one occasion I followed some classic DIY advice: Don't force it, get a bigger hammer!
