Sunuvabitch! Oh my god that makes me so angry. I'd be tempted to claim it on insurance if you can get replacements

Is there a solution for this? I also suffered a crack in my carbon fiber dash.

Are these cosmetic made believe CF? I have never seen real CF equipment break except from excessive mechanical stress or poor resin formulation. Excessive resin is also no good.

I bet there is no carbon fiber in the overlay. It is just a printed graphic like simulate wood for furniture. The likely cause of the fracture is the thermal expansion coefficient difference of the clear coat resin and the thermal plastic dash trim that is the substrate.

They should be real carbon fiber given the amount of money they charged for the option!

It does appear to be a fairly thin veneer --- I found some backside pics from an auction of a 5pc JCW carbon dash:

There are quite a few videos on youtube for how to repair carbon fiber cracks,
I'd watch one of those tutorials.

While looking into this topic I came across another old JCW piece, a carbon fiber hood scoop,
also expensive as hell, and it looks to be fully made from carbon fiber:

Its real carbon just thin with clearcoat. Make sure its the genuine MINI ones I have seen the aftermarket ones do that, only seen a couple factory ones do that. Like oldboy said they are thin and should have the markings, also there should be a JCW logo on the center piece in the clearcoat. Aftermarket ones dont have that.

Best bet would be to go to a guys that does carbon fiber and re wrap and re clear.
