half engine light

Just left the shop after having the thermostat housing replaced. Car seemed a little sluggish but I was re-adjusting from driving my friends Miata (that broke down on me on my way to work this morning} Next...half engine light came on. Soon after, the car seemed to be running fine and I made it home. Out of curiosity I restarted the car and the light did not come back on. Anyone? Anyone?

Do you have an OBD2 adapter/reader? Without a code there isn’t much we can tell you

fyi the yellow-half-engine indicates limp mode. if it repeats limp it back to the shop, maybe they left a sensor disconnected or something.

I'd be checking the fluid level as well.

I would also check the vacuum lines. With the work that was going on in the same area as the lines, one of them could have been disconnected by accident.

The half engine light came on for my 09 Clubman S, briefly. That was the beginning of a pesky problem that was finally tracked to be a faulty ignition relay. Even the MINI shop computer set up didn't find a code for it.

Along that same line, mine came on due to a vacuum leak. Had to replace a couple hoses.
