smoke coming out of scoop

hey this is my first post...

i went to rassmussen mini today to get my bonnet stripes on. after they were installed, about 2 or 3 minutes after i started driving, a large amount of smoke began to come out from the hood scoop. i immediately pulled over to check it out. i didnt really know what to look for, but everything seemed to be fine. normal numbers from all the gauges.

i did some searches on this, but didnt find much... most of the links are broken...
anyone know what this could have been. 2004 mcs. thanks

a Brian, It's hopefully just water steaming off your intercooler. Wash the car recently?

Brian,
It's probably steam, it's not uncommon at all. Just to a search for steam and bonnet. There are lots of Dragon's Snout references on the board as well.
Water + Intercooler = Steam

You can only see it when you are stopped and there is not much wind. If they washed your car and it was raining earlier I would bet it was steam.

Yeah, I've seen the same on my MCS. Seems like steam, and I'll notice it occassionally after a good car wash. Kinda freaks you out at first. First time I saw it, I thought I had a coolant leak under the hood.

The application of the stripes themselves involves copious spraying of water to "float" the vinyl and get out the bubbles. Sounds pretty normal to me.
