Water leak, passenger side door

I have a 05 MCS, I just noticed last week after a rainstorm there was a puddle of water on the passenger side footwell. Today while driving I saw this:

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm not sure if its a bad seal on the weatherstripping around the door, or sunroof drain maybe? Any help would be much appreciated!

Check out from post #15 on this thread, I've been fighting this problem since I bought the car 1.5 years ago. I will warn you it is very frustrating. But I still have my car so I can help haha. As of now I have corrected the drain issue, but still have small leaks. I can tell you exactly how it happens.

Have you checked to see if the window is in proper alignment? It's an easy adjustment made from outside the car.

If your sunroof isn't the culprit I would look into window adjustment and possibly weatherstrip replacement if it's damaged.

The water is coming from inside the rubber seal around the door. If it was because of the window alignment then the water would go straight in to the door panel/seat. Mine leaks from the same spot on that rubber. It comes from the roof moulding and the rest of the draining system being worn/broken. You're right though, Window alignment is a good thing to check if a regulator has been replaced no matter what.

Replaced both door opening seals....found rust under seal at threshold / kick plate area too, performed some rust removal and painting before installing new ones.

I would say the door seal or the window aliagnemnet, but if you dont have a window whistle or issue , then i would point toward the seal.

Do you have a sunroof? I got in my car the other day and had a 3inch frozen pool in the passenger floor. The leak was from the sunroof drainage hoses that had disconnected. I found this video and it was the problem I had, on both sides. Hope this helps.

I found the problem. The sunroof drain was disconnected in the headliner, causing water to saturate the fabric, and drip all the way down the door. It was a pretty easy fix, other than breaking off all the clips on the A pillar Luckily I was able to quickly find a new A pillar, and clips on ECS.

Looks like it was the typical sunroof drains, I clean and inspected mine once a year.

Great, thanks for the order and glad it was fixed. Hopefully no more leaks.

Glad it was the sunroof and not the molding, mine was/is an absolute disaster.

I know this is an older post, but I noticed some water underneath my door seal, only on the section that attaches to the metal lip the other day when I was running some wire for rear camera. I cleaned it and inspected for any rust, no rust. I washed it yesterday and pulled the seal to find water again, the seal looks good, but maybe I’m not seeing something. The window/seal contact looks good and no wind whistling. Any advice before purchasing a $340 seal and hoping it’s the problem?

hello,
Check the sunroof drains and the sunroof seal. If thats ok. Then make sure the window glass is butts up against the seal. You can see that by taking a playing card and try to slide it between the glass and seal. If its good then its the seal part that butts up against the door.
