'09 Mini Clubman - driver's side window won't close completely.

On my '09 Clubman, the driver's side window won't close that final distance when the door is closed. I haven't driven it for the last 8 months and the vehicle has around 5,000 miles on it. Everything was working on it when last driven. The battery was dead when I tried to start it and therefore I had the battery charged.

Any advice on how to fix this? The dealer is over 300 miles away.

Thanks,

I posted here because I thought the window closing equipment is basically the same for all mini's and not just a "Clubman" thing. Hope this is okay!

What exactly is it doing? I have the same car and my passenger window will intermittently roll back down 1/2 halfway when I attempt to close it. The solution, I found, is to creep it back up manually so it almost to the top, but not completely closed. Pause, then I'm able to close w/o it dropping back down.

Okay, I washed the vehicle and did a general cleanup on the inside... and lo and behold, the window started working again! I don't how how the window closing works but maybe a switch that works at the latch was a little corroded and when I opened and closed the door several times it established a better contact. I guess I'll never know for sure but the bottom line it's WORKING!

So to everyone that DIDN'T respond - Thanks!

MothAudio,

You posted when I was responding.

When one opens the door latch, the window opens just a crack and once the door closes, it shuts completely. Nice feature as it makes the door easier to shut. My problem was that it would open a crack but not make the final seal when closed.

My '09 used to do the same thing intermittently. I found rolling the window down all the way then opening and closing the door a few times then rolling it back up usually fixed it. One time I disconnected the battery which also seemed to fix it. I think it's a bug in the software honestly. I was always able to get it to basically fix itself.

Gitmoe,

You bring up a good point. Is there some way a person can reset everything to the original settings?

Yup. With window in down position, lever the window all the way up and continue to hold the lever for a few seconds. Lever the window all the way down and continue holding the lever for a few seconds. I think the exact process is in the manual somewhere..
