Car on yellow lift for no reason ?

ever since my car was updated with the new brake/oil change interval some mornings like today I get the lift symbol, but when you check it shows nothing needed or wrong, no codes, no problems and if you restart it clears, done this like 4 times in 3 months.

Think it's just a glitch. Anyone else ?

...Hmmmmmm...This that make you go, ...Hmmmmmmm...

Sounds like there is a resident code indicator for the ECU to flash the SIL maybe double checking all the Mileage Resets (Change the Set Values for each of the Service Indicators again, then reset them back to what you want) test and see if the SIL comes back on...

Motor on!

A '13 should still be in warranty. Talk to the dealer.

this happened after the "dealer" updated , think they have a bug in their update, trying to verify this and see if anyone else got the bug when the service life was updated.

Sounds like they didn't properly reset your Brake Service Interval.

From the owners manual this is not the brake wear sensor, it is for a vehicle check. See attached

got it again today on 2nd start of car, used Can Tool to check, no reg or hidden BMW codes , nothing says due so there is a bug or conflict with the new sevice load, will have to call MINI and see if they have a clue. I took a photo of it today so I have proof of it with mileage.

Doesn't the yellow symbol just tell you that a service activity is required some time in the future? When it gets down to less than a couple of weeks or some hundreds of miles, it goes red.

Could be a glitch, or could be that your dealer failed to properly reset all service interval reminder during the service. The lift symbol is a generic "pay dealer for scheduled service" reminder.

Try resetting all service reminders on your own, and see if the warning goes away (Google or search youTube for instructions).

+1. I would call your dealer before resetting the service light yourself. And verify all proper scheduled maintenance was performed.

BEFORE they updated the scheduled service my front brakes were getting close, now it says 21K more miles and next service due is oil change in 6K.

I think there is an error or not all the modules got programmed or such. Been very crazy week, wife in hopital after complications from surgery so no time to call dealership, I just hope they don't say " well it's not on now " , I have taken photos of it.

well I'll update when I get the paperwork, BUT guess this, or should I say their guess is my SUB, they say the battery voltage is dropping too low and noted I had a after market sub attached to battery.

Well first thing is subs power off when radio is off, atleast mine does. I have monitored my voltage with dashcommand and some times when coming up to a stop while the defrost was running high I see it dip to about 12.2V meaning all the way to battery voltage. I have brought to their attention before that after a good charge or long drive the battery was reading 12.2 to which they said anything over 12.0 is good. I have more experience and knowledge of all types of batteries , nicad, NMH, Lithium, Lead Acid, SLA, Gasmat/gell cell than probably anyone at that dealership, and I can say with 100% authority that a fully charged , new/newer SLA should be atleast 12.8, and as they age 12.5.

My 2013 has only been in service 17 months BUT it was on the show room floor for probably 6-8 months ( during the time period BEFORE they started using showroom chargers) because BMW won't pay for batteries if the dealership lets them get constantly drained as when sitting and being played with.

So my guess is the cheap batteries MINI uses has just gotten to the point were the voltage is low enough to cause an issue. But again there was no obd or BMW codes because I checked with my can tool. So I need to see where they got this low voltage data from.

But they said this time it's covered, so I'm not gonna get over excited but if this symbol keeps popping up I am going to remove sub and bring it back in.

well now I'm not happy, I found they replaced my AGM 640CCA with a SLA 440cca , they swear they would not down grade my battery. I got a call this morning saying they made a mistake and to bring it back in and they will put the correct battery in.

Great more time I have to take off work. I think it's time to start going to a different dealership.

well they were pretty fast about it, now I have a 680cca AGM to replace my old 640cca AGM.

Just shows the unknowing can easily be taken at a dealership. Not that my car needs the better battery but we all know the bigger the battery the more likely it will last longer and an AGM is a superior battery compared to the plain old lead acid they stuck in there.

Well the mini on a stripper poll as it's been called still comes up intermittently and as before restarting car clears.

I think I am taking to another dealership when I can get time. My guess is since my front brakes were going to be due soon ( but the mileage was extended out to like 30K) that some module is still thinking front brakes are due but the module that displays the message is not saying why a service is due or some conflict.
