06 MCSA Burble

Just acquired an MCSA 2 two weeks ago (sold my 2005 MCS). Basically, it has DDM Intake, 15 pulley, and a milltek exhaust (rmw headers will be installed later). I just noticed that the burble that my 2005 mcs make is not there in my 2006 mcsa. (im not sure if it's because my 2005 had 17% pulley and jcw injectors)

Is this normal for MCSA?

thinking of getting 17% pulley and jcw/450cc injectors plus tune for my mcsa

My 05 MCSa has a burble, but it also has a header and a tune plus several other items. I was told the burble was from run rich on fuel.

mine burble in idle or when i rev it in neutral. However, not like my manual car when i'm decelerating or lift the throttle at 3krpm it burbles. My mcsa doesn't do that even though i'm in sport/manual mode. thinking of changing to 17% pulley and jcw injectors again hehe

Pulley and injectors have literally nothing to do with it. Changing them will not have any appreciable effect on burble. Burble is determined by the ecu.

My R52 JCW has a most wonderful burble where as my R53 JCW has a suppressed almost absent burble.

I have to do a comprehensive compassion between the two and then I’ll make the adjustments to make the R53 more burblerific … on mine, I think it is a difference in the JCW exhaust system.

Gotta love the burble! It got even more burblized when I installed the Milltec Sport exhaust system. It took the burble to a whole new level. 05 R53 burbler for life! Today is Leon's 10th birthday. Just happened to be driving by Otto's Mini in West Chester Pa 10 years ago. Bought him new right off the truck as he was being delivered! Turns out he was one of the first refreshed R53's on the east coast at the time. He was well optioned and slated to be the sales managers demo ( I put a stop to that real quick with a $1k deposit ). Still have him and probably always will. Runs and looks better now then when I bought him! Guess I need to give him a shout out birthday wish in a single post...

Burble is determined by the ecu.

Fake burble maybe ... artificially induced burble in MINI that is

however I doubt the burble I get in my 79 Mini comes from the ECU . . .

since there ain't one!

the real question - and I've been asking it for years - is what causes burble? What is the ECU changing to create burble in a MINI?

essentially it is unburned fuel mixture getting to the hot exhaust and popping off

It is opined that the MINI creates burble by holding the mixture rich at idle via the ECU . and holding the timing from retarding

Maybe we can confirm by looking at "before ECU" . . .

On older cars it is generally believed to be a function of valve timing and how rapidly fuel flow is stopped when you come off the throttle.

I know that at one time my Mini developed a big time burble & didn't want to hold idle - much more than the normal burble I get 'all the time' .... I eventually found a significant vac' leak. I fixed the leak and the burble went back to normal .. so did my idle. The vac' leak was causing the vac' adjust of the ignition timing to not function properly....

IF this is true .. changing the exhaust would not introduce burble .. but if barely perceptible burble were there you might hear it now . . .

What you say makes perfect sense. I think the burble changes sound with the exhaust system you are running but, doesn't cause the burble. I have had the stock, one ball, and Milltek systems on my car. All burbled differently. The Milltek system has the deepest and the best sounding IMO.
