Slow throttle!!!

Is there a solution to improving throttle response besides Sprintbooster? I mean its soo bad that my car stalls like crazy. On my previous R56 I had a sport button that would help alot with this issue, but on R50 there isnt and this electronic throttle is driving the F out of me. ECU reprogram or something?

Sprint booster just amplifies the signal from your gas pedal...you press the pedal down 10%, the sprint booster tells the ECU you are pressing the pedal down 20%.....that's the best explanation I can think of.

Some people seem to like the sprint boosters...some hate them. You can basically do the same thing with you foot...just press the pedal down faster.

You are never going to have lighting fast throttle response out of a small motor with a big heavy flywheel......my R53 has super soggy throttle response also...that's just the nature of the beast I think.

Everyone says this but it's wrong. Just get the SB and try it. If you don't like it, you can send it back... but I promise you I tried "just pushing down harder" before I spent $300 (which is outrageous IMO, but whatever.) It reacts faster. It removes the "dead zone" at the beginning of pedal travel. I can't stand driving my car with it turned off, it's unbearable.

I know a handful of people have reported getting it and not liking it, but the majority of owners seem to be big fans.

+1 I'm a fan.

I have found though that when the roads are icy/snowy, it's best to turn it off. Even sport mode can be too sensitive.

My son on the other hand likes the long pedal feel and isn't so sure he'd like an SB.

Otherwise, I can wait until AX starts up. I think it's benefit will really show here.

Sprintbooster is the solution. Big difference.
You might not think it is doing anything because you get used to it. But turn it off and see what happens then. You'll wonder how you ever drove the car like that.

I bought the D1 Spec Throttle Controller instead of the SB. I absolutely LOVE the D1. You have so much control over the throttle with all of the different settings. I change the settings every time I drive the car. For in town I usually run it in Sport Mode between 6 and 9. When I get on the freeway I set it at Economy 7 and set the cruise control. I would buy the D1 again in a heart beat! It made my R53 a completely different car from one extreme to another. If I want it to drive like factory I put it in the Normal mode. Best mod I have done yet. Easy to install and cheaper than the SB.

I like the D1 also and was wondering where did you purchase?

I bought it off eBay overseas. I will try to come up with the name for you. I know Greasys Garage sells them. He was out when I had money to buy a new toy.

I also have the D1 Spec Throttle Controller and I can't believe how much it transformed the car.

Are there still issues with the D1 in regards to the plug not being the right shape out of the box?

Would either of these products be useful with the CVT? Or does the transmission type even matter since they affect the throttle response?

Are there any places in the states that sell the D1 spec throttle booster? I'm interested in getting one just to play around with.

Debi, I forgot, I bought my D1 from a NAM member selling it in the Market Place.
Danny, my D1 was plug and play with no issues. I have had it now for over 6 months.
Drwedge, I believe you need to advise the seller what transmission you have.
IQ, go to greasysgarage.com , he is in the states. He gets $190 installed or you can get it cheaper and ask him to ship it to you. Zen a Racing in Australia also sells them on eBay.

I got mine from Greasy's. I'm lucky enough to live right near them.

Since the D1 runs through your OBD port.....are you able to unplug it temporarily to plug it a diagnostic cable ......or do you have no throttle control any time you unplug the D1 from the OBD port?

IQ, you can buy a splitter from eBay and use both at the same time or you can unplug it and still be able to drive in normal mode. I put a splitter on mine but never plugged anything else into the second port so I took it out.

Anyone know where I can get one from?

Yes, I think they did....but they said it would be at least two weeks before they actually show up. Is there nobody else that sells them?

Thats the same answer I got from Greasys too.

Thanks for the input on the D1 unit. Hopefully sprintbooster monopoly will cease. Its idiotic that they still want over $300 for something that costs them $20 to make after all these years. Great idea but the price should definitely go down.

I thought I just saw a D1 Spec in the Market Place. I think it was under a parting out of an R53.
