I have spent hours trying to get the serpentine belt on my '05 S. The tensioner is up and pinned at the second hole. But the belt is still a little short of fitting.... I just don't get it. Please Help Thx

Is this a new belt or the old belt? As long a you have the proper sized belt, the belt is routed correctly and not snagged or half on it should fit.

If a short belt is used....
Have a helper pull back on the tensioner tool....this will give you about another 1/4 inch of movement....or simply buy the next longer belt...aka...get the 535 instead of the 532 of the 539 instead of the 535....
The prior owner might have installed a +2 crank damper...meaning a longer belt is needed than the "common" ones folks suggest.

I've run into this problem before only to realize I routed the belt around the pulleys incorrectly.

Thanks But The belt is a 548 (6PK1390) and is new and clean. Its routed all the R53 pics I have seen. BTW this repair is due to the fact that the Idler Pulley came OUT !! Thx Again

Compare it to the old belt and make sure they are the same size. Other than that we've pretty much covered all of the bases on belt install issues.

Any luck?

Having the exact same issue - I know this post is super old - hoping you found a solution and can share! We’ve tried so many times, routes belt correctly, even bought the tool.... at a loss.
