Loose cigarette lighter

Just took delivery of an 06S. So far so good.

I noticed today while trying to plug in my radar detector that the cigarette lighter socket was loose.

It has power, but the socket comes out when you pull out the cord.

Is this a common thing and do I need to replace the socket or is there a way to secure it back into place?

My 2004 S has the same issue, I had similar issues on other vehicles and have done a light wrap of ducttape/ electrical tape around the outside, works well.

Shouldn't it clip into the console somehow?

yes it should, if you look closely there in an orange amber plastic ring around it, I bet that it is broken, look for the part number it cost 4 bucks or so ECS tuning has them, brake off the old one and clip on the new one. buy 2 just in case lol

just make sure that you use common sense when putting this together it's been a while since I did mine but if I remember correctly you have to seat the ring in before the metal socket then clip the together otherwise it will not fit. I think sorry it's been a while
