When I started my car ('04 MCS) this morning, I could hear a new sound that seemed to come from around the belt. I suspected something driven by the belt was struggling but the sound was soft. About a half mile out, the warning lights started coming on and within 15 seconds everything had shut off. There was no power to anything at all. I didn't try to jump it, but after a couple hours there was still no sign of power and I decided to have it towed to the shop.
From what I've read around here, my guess is going to be the damper pulley. Anyone else care to speculate? The garage wont get back to me until Tuesday afternoon.
This garage doesn't like it when I bring parts. Plus its not like I had one in hand. Or is it something that is typically available locally? I was in a hurry to get my wheels back.
I didn't think the damper was difficult to get to? Just difficult to pull and press back on, right?
