Clutch Pedal still soft at floor and hard shifting after new MC and Slave?
Hello, had the local transmission shop replace the Slave and MC after pedal went to the floor on my 05 cabrio. Now after pressure bleeding several times with no air found, the pedal is still very soft and needs to go to the floor to even shift, and a hard shift at that? They have bled several more times and found no air and are baffled why Clutch pedal is still so soft and shifting so hard? The pedal is all the way to the floor to even get into gear and then engages the clutch within an inch or two of the floor, really quickly.....Any thoughts??
I had the same frustrating problem after I installed a new clutch and slave/master cylinders.
When a new slave cylinder is installed, it has to be fully compressed when its installed. If installed properly and you can't get the brake peddle firm after bleeding it, then you'll need to find a way to hold the clutch peddle down to the floor for 24 hours. I cut a 1x2 and wedged it between the seat base and clutch peddle. After 24 hours I pumped the clutch peddle twice and had a perfectly working clutch. All after trying to pump bleed, pressure bleed, and a Mighty Vac....depressing the peddle and letting physics work its magic was the truck
Good luck

I have the same exact problem.
I gave up trying to bleed it including the holding the clutch down for 24 hrs trick.
I had my friend who is a mechanic at the local Honda dealer check it out in my garage. It said its a bad clutch.
The slave strokes 15mm which is within spec which tells me there is no air in the clutch hydraulics.
This means I will have to remove the transmission to see what is broken inside. I dread this and its discouraging since I replaced the clutch 19 months ago.
The car is a daily driver by my 25 yr son. I think he is driving it rather hard. Likes to use the clutch to engine brake when turning. I threatened to get him a tractor which he cant break.
Anyway, does anyone know if a more durable clutch is available.
I was thinking of an Exedy clutch kit rather than the replacement Valeo.
Seems like its constructed better. No idea which version or model though.

tberardi - if you weren't having clutch problems before the master or slave was changed, then you wouldn't have issues now. These are some of the worst designed systems to try and bleed and even min specialists have issues bleeding them. Just my .02

It worked!!!!
Yes our car had the same issues everyone is describing. We had the local shop replace the Slave Cylinder yesterday but it didn't seem to fix the issue (AT FIRST).
So we read this thread last night and tried the trick: I wedged a 2X4 between the clutch pedal and the driver seat so the pedal was all the way to the floor. Left it there overnight. Gave it a couple of pumps this morning and it firmed up really nice. Drives and shifts absolutely perfect!!!! WOO HOOO!!!
Now I get to call the shop and tell them we don't need to bring it back in after all
